Where is the Parish of Alveston?
Alveston Parish which includes Rudgeway and Earthcott is situated around the Ridgeway between Bristol and Gloucester. Earthcott on the eastern slope away from the river Severn, Rudgeway straddling the ridge and Alveston, the newer village clusters to the east.
What is a Parish Council?
The Council has an overall responsibility for the well-being of the local community with their work falling into the three main areas of representation, delivering services and striving to improve quality of life in the parish. This work is achieved using the funds collected from all residents by the setting of a Precept which is collected through the Council Tax system.
Services provided and/or maintained by the Parish Council include the Cemetery, play areas and playing fields, allotments, highway land, dog and litter bins and planning consultation.

What is the role of a Parish Councillor?
A councillor's primary role is to represent their ward or division and the people who live in it. Councillor's provide a bridge between the community and the council representing their views at council meetings. Also councillors may lead local campaigns on behalf of residents.
When does the Council meet?
Alveston Parish Council holds a meeting on the third Monday of each month (except August) at the Jubilee Hall at 7.30PM. Residents are aways welcome to attend and if required may have five minutes at the start of each meeting to speak about any local issues.
How do I become a Councillor?
The Parish Council Clerk will be pleased to discuss what the role will involve and the procedure for enrolling to become a Councillor. Currently there are six vacancies.
