4pm: Taize service
St Helen's Church, Alveston

Taize is a contemplative form of worship, developed in France, which became very popular with young people. It is now the most popular destination for Christian pilgrimage.
Our service is a short informal meditative service. Reflective music (in the form of distinctive repetitive chants) interspersed with pieces of Scripture creates an environment for meditation and prayer.

About St. Helen’s Church

The Benefice of St. Helen’s Alveston includes St. John’s Elberton and St. Mary’s Littleton with Pilning and Severn Beach.

We seek to welcome both our regular congregations and visitors and to serve the wider community through our Church life, whether through pastoral care, occasional offices or service and involvement in our wider community life and activities.

St. Helen’s was consecrated in 1885. During the recent re-ordering, the pews were removed allowing a wider breadth of worship, services and use.

There are two Sunday services at St. Helen’s every week; 8am service is Holy Communion; 10am service is: ‘First Sunday’ teaching service once a month, ‘Family’ service once a month and Holy Communion two/three times per month.

There is a Holy Communion Service every Tuesday at 10am.

Our monthly range of worship is both traditional and contemporary from Book of Common Prayer, through Common Worship, Messy Church and Taizé services.

Messy Church

Hospitality is important to us. We aim to be a friendly and inclusive church where everyone can find a home. With Christ as our head we seek to create a community where all feel loved and accepted.

St Helen's Church would like to see its premises used by the local community. It can provide a large area for your club, organisation activities, tables and seating for up to 150 persons, a kitchen for light refreshments and disabled toilet facilities.
