Repair to the roundabout at the Cross Hands play area.

4             Parish Store

This was covered in matters arising.

5             Play area Work

This was covered in matters arising.

6             Cemetery

The shrubs are gradually being pruned, but to carry out the work all at once may spoil the appearance of the cemetery. The Clerk asked if the boundary hedges should be trimmed, as Garden Manicures had been told to leave them un-cut.

                    The committee recommend

The boundary hedge is topped to 4feet high and trees such as Oak, Beech, Holly etc, but not ash or sycamore are left to form specimens. The brambles are removed from the shrub beds to stop them spreading.

The Clerk reported having to spend three hours removing graffiti, which had been done with black crayon. This is particularly difficult to remover especially on the stonework.

Litter is becoming a problem; this is thought to be the responsibility of Marlwood pupils who inhabit the cemetery at lunchtime.

          The Committee recommend

A letter is sent to Marlwood School requesting pupils take away their litter.

Any other Business.

.Mrs Painter prior to the meeting raised two points.

1.      A caravan and van are now being parked on the Down, causing traffic to cross to the other side of the road to pass them. This is thought to be a traffic problem and would be reported to the police.

2.      A group of youths are using the north west corner of the Lime Kiln fields for drinking, possibly sex and drugs as beer bottles, condoms and small plastic bags with traces of white powder in them have been found. This will be reported to the police.

Mrs Ann Wilkins reported that the “No Dogs” signs at the Lime Kiln play area was being obscured by growth which needed to be cut back. Garden Manicures to be informed.

The meeting closed at 7.45pm.
