3.     MINUTES OF PREVIOUS MEETING AND MATTERS ARRISING

The Minutes of the meeting held on 6th February were approved and signed by the Chairman.

4                                            Footpath Reports

The list of work done on the footpaths as supplied by Anita Walker is work carried out for the easy access scheme;(OAN/22, OAN/48, OAN/46) the remaining work is still to be done. (see attached).

The cams report was examined and discussed. The committee considered that if a standard letter were sent to all the “cross path/electric fence” then nearly half the problems would be solved. The top priority is therefore to have these letters sent, the landowners can be found by referring to defa with the easting and northings.

The footpath reports from the Thornbury Ramblers will be forwarded to South Gloucestershire Council for action.

The second letter from Thornbury ramblers state that the examination of the books 1 and 2 walks have all been completed with only a small number of paths not walked. The Thornbury Ramblers have completed their initial project and are unable to commit any more resources at this time. A letter of thanks to be sent to Jan and David Fulman.

The parish is therefore left with a problem, how to keep the paths examined and reported on. The warden scheme proposed by South Gloucestershire will need to be looked at again. To this end the clerk will talk to Yate Council and South Gloucestershire Council. The particular areas of concern are

1.      The insurance for the warden

2.      The responsibility of the council

3.      Who controls the work and how.

5   Ten Trails

There are two areas of concern

1.      At point 3644 18813 on OAN 46 a gate has been dragged across the path and needs to either be removed or hung properly.

2.      At point 36473 1879on OAN46 the route is unclear and needs a way marker.

3.      Towards the end of the trail along OAN 23 more way markers are needed.

Mike Watson will lead the parish walk around the new easy trail set for Sunday July 9th starting at 10.00. The organization will include, booking the Jubilee Hall, arranging for a village organization to do coffee and biscuits for the end, and publicity in the Helmet, the various walking organization and South Gloucestershire Council easy access team.

6          Bus Shelters

The need for a shelter at the parade of shops will need to be put before the council after the election of officers in May.

7          Any Other Business

The plastic posts at the end of the road/path between Greenhill Road and Greenhill Down (which forms the triangle) needs replacing.

The meeting was closed at 8.05 pm.
